Self contained local/remote controlled 1800 watt dimmer used for
specials, practicals, or any instance where precise manual control
is required. Entrance cues taken on a visual are many times a must
as only one example. Don’t let your talent get caught in the
dark again!
Filtered
beyond normal industry specifications at 350µs, the LFD is
manufactured to withstand the abuses of the most hostile
production crew. Constructed within heavy duty aluminum extrusion,
an integral protection hood for slider/flash button preservation
and voltage acceptance of 80-160VAC, the LFD has far surpassed
previous market attempts at a cost-effective single portable unit
dimmer.

|
| Overview |
|
|
Instantaneous
Response: At less than 8 milliseconds from 0-100%,
precision light cueing is a snap! There are already many unknowns
and unexpected events that can and do occur during live
performances. Don't add another artistic nightmare by using
sluggish, non-responsive equipment!
|
Robust
Power Handling: Most dimmers of this type only rate
their power devices for 5%-10% over expected conditions. The LFD
has a more healthy rating of 260%, ensuring long life and
trouble-free operation for years to come! Would you drive a car
with a safety margin of only 10%? Absolutely not! The LFD provides
a margin for safety and reliability far exceeding its' rivals!
|
 |
| Remote
Controllable: So your plan of duct taping the
lighting designer to a pole in order to operate an entrance light
was rejected on moral and ethical grounds...not to worry! The LFD
is easily controlled remotely from backstage (or elsewhere) via
its' integral analogue input jack!
|
Compact
& Lightweight: How much do your dimmers weigh?
This little guy is a mere three pounds! Easily mounted to a set
piece or hidden on stage, the LFD is a super condensed, high
quality powerhouse of a dimmer package! |

Over
Current
Protection |
The
LFD employs a push-to-reset type breaker capable of
passing large inrush currents while protecting the
circuitry from dangerous faults (no nuisance tripping
allowed).
|
 |
| Cooling |
Convection
cooled via custom extruded chassis. The surface area
used to dissipate heat is essential the entire enclosure,
making it very efficient.
|
 |
Output
Configuration |
Edison
type grounded parallel blade receptacle is standard.
Optional connectors may be accommodated as requested.
|
 |
Input
Voltage
Requirements |
Input
voltage power feed is via a six foot power cord (14-3)
with molded PBG plug. 120VAC @ 15Amperes. The LFD
has been designed to be adaptable for many other input
connections and voltages as required, i.e., 230VAC/50Hz
may be accommodated.
|
 |
| Filtering |
The
unit incorporates an iron core, copper-wound toroidal
filter inductor. The dimmer shall have current rise
at any point on the curve of not over 0.75% of dimmer rms
current rating (ma/µs). Typical value for the LFD
is 350µs.
|
 |
| Response
Curve |
The
unit is designed to respond to control signals according
to the lighting industry "Square Law"
curve. Output is within 2% of the preferred value
for any control input, regardless of line input voltage
being used, this function is continuously self-adjusting.
|
 |
| Response
Time |
The
LFD will respond instantly (typical a 20µs delay) when
the control signal is present, and turns off at the next
zero current crossing of the load after the signal has
been removed (typically less than 8 milliseconds).
|
 |
| Output
Voltage Regulation |
The
unit utilizes negative feedback circuitry and current
sensing technology to determine line/load voltage
fluctuations, to instantly and continuously maintain
consistent output to the load. When operating from
120VAC line, the output to the load will remain within
2.5% of its nominal value (determined by control input
voltage) for line voltages ranging from 100VAC to 140VAC
or 200 to 250VAC (European models). This feature is
unique to Electrol dimmers.
|
 |
Power
Device |
Optically
isolated heavy-duty inverse parallel pair scr construction
with a power conversion of 99.2%, for reliable long-life
service in the high surge applications of Tungsten and
Ballasted loads. The device will perform during
transient high voltage conditions (600VAC) as well as specified
120VAC or 230VAC and be conservatively rated for the
continuous duty at greater than twice the rated operating
current. This provides a safety margin far exceeding
standards for this type of equipment.
|
 |
| Indicators |
Distinctive
180 degree viewing lenses monitor the dimmers output
activity, control signal tracking and override
"test" function.
|
 |
Test
Function |
Generates
a +10 Volt DC control signal to the channel for diagnostic
purposes and as an aid for production "set-ups".
|
 |
| Versatile |
The
LFD has the capability to dim any load from 50 watts to
1,200 watts, resistive or inductive (i.e., ACL's with
transformers), depending on unit designation.
|
 |
| Wiring |
All
internal load wiring is constructed of stranded copper
wire sized in accordance with the NAPA. |
