Electrol
presents digital dimming with a level of sophistication that
ideally suits every conceivable application whether architectural,
touring, rental, theme-park, television or film, the dx
series dimmers meet the challenge.
Critical design criteria and leading edge processing techniques
enable the dx
to provide a new and powerful level of creativity in lighting
designs of all kinds. Truly a world class product, the dx
automatically senses the mains line voltage input and
reconfigures all operational parameters accordingly.
|
The dx
series dimmers have the ability to select the maximum output
voltage for each dimmer channel, allowing the connection of any
voltage lamp directly to the dimmers output. This feature
frees lighting designers around the world to literally drop in new
low voltage lamps directly into their design without concern for
series connections or transformer coupling.
An engineering wonder, the dx
incorporates two micro- processors to
provide the most comprehensive user interface. Coupled
with crisp visual representation of all dimmer functions and
operating status, the dx
is in a class by itself.

| Overview |
|
| With all
the excitement in entertainment lighting, what's there to be
excited about dimming? Plenty, if you're looking at Electrol
dimmers! Features have been designed to make the units the
most versatile and beneficial on the market. Take a look at
these attributes that are unique to the dx
series dimmers and you'll know why we stand above the crowd.
|
 |
| 120/220
Continuous: Heard it before? Probably not. But, have you
heard that you can have your dimmer working in New York today and
Barcelona tomorrow? You can with the dx. And by the way, you
don’t have to modify the dimmer at all. The dx
with its worldly sophistication is able to adjust automatically for any line voltage. Wow! |
More
usable channels for your money: The D125dx is 1500 watts
per channel, not a meager 1200. The D625dx is 2500 watts per
channel, not a skimpy 2400. With the advent of the popular
750 Watt lamp, what does this mean? A 96 channel rack of D125dx
dimmers allows you to use 96 channels, 192 fixtures! Think
of the savings, it’s like buying one rack, getting one free.
|
 |
100
Programmable looks: Sounds good, but what does it mean?
You can set up your levels for one venue or multiple venues.
Console like features such as: full-proportional
soft-patching, pre-heat selections. Custom configure the
dimmer for any type or style lamp in your inventory from MR16s,
fluorescence, ACLs, 2K incandescent. Simply enter the voltage
because the dx
is the only dimmer available with continuously
variable output voltage selection. In many cases, a console is no
longer needed. Take the money saved and invest it, buy more
equipment, go on vacation! Time is money as well, you can
load in your equipment and call up a past lighting scene.
|
Fastest
response time in the industry: Very important for those
all too familiar long cable
runs. When you hit full, you want to see your lights respond now!
By integrating a properly designed breaker with a very high-surge capable power device and custom
filtering, we have a formidable current driving beast. We don't buy
typical off-the-shelf
components to save us money, we use the good stuff! A
joint engineering effort between Electrol and Airpax enable us to
incorporate magnetic breakers specifically for the dx. The
breakers respond to hazardous overloads but ignore simple inrush
currents generated by cold filaments. The Teledyne power devices
are not skinny, they are Fat! Loads of head room in RMS
current, incredible surge capability and voltage capacity. Filters
with very low insertion loss and terrific electromotive characteristics. Why cut corners
when our name and yours is on the
line? We do it right the first time.
|
 |
Heat
resistant:
Boxing/wrestling shows, corporate and industrial events. What to
they have in common? Full-on for long periods of time. This causes
things to get hot, sometimes really hot. With the dx dimmers,
that’s cool, they have a built-in temperature gauge and will
cycle the fan when necessary. They take a lot of heat and keep
working without any loss of signal strength. How about outdoor
venues? The dx dimmers have been put through the test, they work
in high humidity, closed off rooms with zero ventilation,.
They’re your silent work force.
|
Power
considerations: Have clean power?
Great! But what happens if there’s a major storm and the power
isn’t so constant? The dx
dimmer monitors your input power to thousands
of times every second and
automatically makes adjustments. So even though it’s raining
cats and dogs outside, there's a brown-out, your lamps remain at
the level you set, all the way down to 85 Volts! (Vin
>
Vout) Generator
power, delta systems, and wild legs can be a nightmare. Let someone else have
those bad dreams, you’ll sleep soundly knowing the dx
dimmers are operating normally.
|
 |
| Voltage
Error: Safety, it’s paramount at Electrol. That’s
why the dx
dimmers have the fastest acting safety protection in the industry
- for your people, your equipment. Dangerous defective
grounds are out there. You can't see them, but the dx
's react immediately. Whether the fault lie in wiring, short
circuit, a compromised safety ground, the dx
will effect the solution before harm can occur. Pretty
impressive, extremely safe. Electrol
is the only manufacturer to offer this exciting electronic
safety feature as well
as the only one to offer Electronic Ground Fault Protection (GFCI ) built-in. |
Durability:
When’s the last time you tossed your dx
rack out of a plane? No? Well how about threw it out of a truck,
down a hill into a gully? No again? Here’s one you’ve probably
seen - dimmers connected to power incorrectly. That can be a major
problem. Pop, pop, pop, the sound of hundreds and thousands of
dollars of lamps dying. Did we mention that won’t happen with
the dx
dimmers? They'll continue to work flawlessly and let you
move on to more important things.
|
 |
Quiet
Filtering: Shhh,
the President is ready to speak, the director says
"Roll", the performer is ready for the 100th
take. The dx
dimmers will be silent, working steadily and
flawlessly in the background. No
need to worry about roaring fans,
hum, or RF buzz!
|
Low
maintenance:
We've built in hardware solutions to make your system last a
lifetime. No spare modules to pay for, the breakers are
saving the SCRs, so no worries there! No extra parts
required. We spent the money and time
up-front so you won't have to.

| Power/Mains
Connection |
Three
phase modular 75A powerlok connector for L1,L2,L3,N&G. Line input may be tied
together for single 120 (60Hz)/230 (50Hz)V line or split for staggered 120/240V
(unbalanced 80/40) lines or connected separately for 3ø 120/208V line. No
internal/external modifications are necessary for any of above voltage connections.
The dx is
inherently a 3ø unit, however, single phase operation L1,L2,N,G (-2P) is available
pre-configured from factory. 3ø=40A per leg, -2P=60A per leg. The dx
will automatically sense
voltage level present on mains input and self-configure all dimmer operational parameters
accordingly. Neutral reference to ground (zero potential) is continuously monitored
for <58V potential difference. If neutral becomes "hot", the
dx processor shuts down operating
features and reports neutral error to display. Mains fuses (5mmx20mm) are provided
for logic circuits. Operational range is 85VAC to 265VAC, global standards.

Integral low
noise fan forced air. Innovative design to provide maximum heat extraction using
extensive engineering and computerized models. Result: Cool operating
temperature when racked and loaded fully on for extended periods of time.
Ambient=40°C, dimmer=74°C, based on actual installation data. (Worse case with fan
blades at 0 rpm, pack=115°C and operational). There are no thermostats to shut down
during a performance. The 110cfm fan is controlled via the processor to activate at
the presence of a control signal, or if internal temperature of the unit is greater than
100°F. The fan will turn off two minutes after signal and temperature and
normalized.
